Year End Recap

On June 30th, we celebrated another amazing year of Young Athens Professionals.

We would like to extend a warm and excited Thank You to all of our members, especially those of you able to participate in the First Annual YAP Year-End Extravaganza at the Southern Ohio Copperheads game on June 30th.

The evening began hot and muggy with a table full of Kiser’s BBQ delicacies. Who knew barbecued tofu could be so scrumptious?! And those Deb’s Desserts cookies were tops as well. The pork, beans and mac & cheese were delightful, as always, and everyone enjoyed the spread.Image

After dinner, a number of raffle prizes were awarded to YAP members who attended the event including:

Business Portrait Session gift certificates from Lamborn’s Studio & Custom Framing

Gift certificates from Haffa’s Records, Fluff Bakery, Salaam, & Donkey Coffee

T-shirts from Classic Brands Beer Distributors

Swag from Business Remixed and Career Connections

The raffles were awarded to the lucky winners, and then YAP Co-Founder Kristi Chesser presented the First Annual YAP of the Year Award. Kristi spoke to the importance of YAP and helped share why this organization is so awesome for this area. She then expressed the many, many reasons for this year’s winner being chosen. Bethany George exemplifies what Young Athens Professionals is all about, and we’re glad to name her the First Annual YAP of the Year.

Bethany is an active member of this organization and has been heavily involved with YAP for many years.  She has been instrumental in getting people excited about YAP and many current members know about the organization because she’s encouraged them to attend over the years. Bethany actively recruits new members for YAP simply because she values the organization. We thought this award would be a great way to thank Bethany for all she’s done to help us grow and succeed as an organization.

Thank you, Bethany! And congratulations on becoming the first ever Young Athens Professional of the Year!

The game began at 7:30pm, when YAP Co-Founder Sara Marrs threw out the first pitch. We’re pleased to report she nailed it! Sailed that ball right over home plate. Great job, Sara!

Unfortunately, your friendly neighborhood YAP photographer was passing out wristbands at the gate when Sara threw the pitch, but we did get this awesome action shot of Sara and her fiance Robbie watching a ball zoom across the field:

The game went off without a hitch! No rain, AND the Copperheads beat the Hamilton Joes 6 to 4!!

We sincerely hope you’ll join us for next year’s Year-End Extravaganza, and in the meantime, please stay tuned for Happy Hour announcements and other fun events. Have ideas?! Be sure to complete ALL post event surveys when they reach your inbox.

YAP is where it’s at! See you at the West End Ciderhouse for Happy Hour on August 14th!
